The Chamberlain does the job. It was straightforward to install and operated right away. It appears to be a great product.

Chamberlain PD212D 1/2hp garage door opener - goodolboy - East Tenn.
This opener is fairly easy to install, with mostly well-illustrated instructions overall, in spite of a couple of inconsistencies in the installation manual's text and in the parts drawings. The text instructions seem likely to have been written by someone who speaks English as a FIRST language too, which is unusual these days, and which helps to speed things along....The actual assembly of the main components and wiring the system are a breeze.

The quality of the parts OVERALL seems decent, although I noticed that a significantly lighter weight steel and smaller gauge fasteners are used for the bracketry and rail system than had been used with my older 1/3hp chain driven unit (20-25 years) which had also been Chamberlain-(Sears private labeled) model. That may be a part of why this new one still flexes considerably-in spite of the square cross section of the new rail (vs "t" section) and is actually louder in operation than the old one had been.

Also, perhaps one of the MOST important parts, the emergency release lever (which is the part actually being pulled on by the rope) is the one moving part of the entire assembly of rail/guide/bracketry/etc. that is necessary for opening the door manually, IS MADE OF PLASTIC. If this part breaks, even if the door is very well balanced, the door can't be opened without tools. Why they chose to penny-pinch on the design and manufacture of this particular SAFETY-RELATED item is beyond me. Of course, the main pulley is now plastic too, so if THAT part breaks, the door can't be opened automatically......

Another thing to note: Be sure to check that ALL the parts are actually there, as, even with a replacement installation, unless you have a good hardware selection on hand as I do, you may not have available a usable substitute for a missing bolt, nut, etc., which could delay or interrupt the installation.

As previously mentioned, this model uses a snap-together square rail system rather than a bolt-together one, and it isn't compatible with some/most older "t" bar systems-other than possibly reusing some of the old rail and motor housing mounting bracketry/arms/etc., so even if it's a replacement for an existing opener, you can expect it to likely take just about as much time and effort as if you were doing a new installation from scratch, especially if your original one hadn't been perfectly aligned or well-installed, which I discovered had been the case with ours.

The adjustments for door opening and closing position and for operating FORCE, are well explained and easy to follow. The remote and wired openers all operate as explained.
